About the Schwarzman Scholars Program
Founded in 2016, the Schwarzman Scholars Program was created to strengthen international cooperation and develop future leaders who understand China’s growing influence on global affairs. Inspired by the Rhodes Scholarship, the initiative was established by Stephen A. Schwarzman, Chairman, CEO, and Co-Founder of Blackstone.
The program combines academic learning with leadership development, cultural exchange, and practical experience, enabling scholars to better understand international challenges while building lifelong global networks.
Academic Curriculum
The interdisciplinary curriculum provides students with a comprehensive understanding of China’s role in today’s world. Scholars choose from three main academic areas:
Economics and Business
Students explore international trade, finance, economics, business strategy, and China’s economic development. The coursework examines how China’s policies influence global markets and international commerce.
Public Policy
This specialization focuses on governance, public administration, environmental policy, international diplomacy, and social development. Students gain insight into China’s policy-making process and its global impact.
International Relations
Courses in this field cover foreign policy, international security, global strategy, and China’s relationships with major world powers and international organizations.
The program emphasizes practical learning through seminars, case studies, leadership workshops, internships, field visits, and mentorship opportunities with distinguished experts.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements for the Schwarzman Scholars Program:
- Be between 18 and 28 years old by August 1 of the enrollment year.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent before the program begins.
- Applicants from all academic disciplines are encouraged to apply.
- Demonstrate excellent academic performance and leadership potential.
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Meet the English language proficiency requirements.

English Language Requirement
Since all classes are taught in English, applicants whose first language is not English must submit valid English proficiency test scores.
Applicants may be exempt if:
- They completed at least two years of undergraduate education in English.
- They earned a master’s degree or higher from an institution where English was the primary language of instruction.

How to Apply
Candidates must first create an online account through the official Schwarzman Scholars application portal. After registration, an activation email containing a temporary PIN will be sent to the registered email address.
Once the account is activated, applicants can begin their application, save their progress, make changes whenever needed, and submit the completed application before the deadline.
