Istanbul, Turkey is home to Koç University, a private, nonprofit institution. In 1993, it started teaching in temporary buildings in Stinye, and in 2000, it moved to its present Rumelifeneri site near Saryer. Currently, Koç University is composed of colleges of science, engineering, law, nursing, medical, administrative sciences and economics, and social sciences and humanities. Koç University offers 30 PhD programs, 29 graduate programs, and 22 undergraduate programs. The university is home to about 7,000 students. The institution welcomes international students from a wide range of countries and has more than 250 partner universities, including the institution of California and others like Northwestern University, Cornell University, and Georgetown University.

International Undergraduate Scholarships at Koç University
Numerous scholarships are available from Koç University to exceptional and bright overseas undergraduate students. No specific application procedure or scholarship application exists. All applicants will get notification along with their admissions offer regarding whether or not they have been awarded a scholarship. In order to be eligible for a merit-based scholarship, please remember the following details before submitting your application for Koç University Scholarships:
- All accepted candidates are first assessed by the admissions committee for a merit-based scholarship based only on academic merit (need-blind). These scholarships can cover 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% of the annual tuition for the duration of the program. Merit-based scholarships don’t come with any extra perks like housing, living expenses, books, etc.
- The School of Medicine does not grant any type of need- or merit-based scholarship to accepted international students. You should carefully assess your ability to pay for your medical school education out of pocket before applying.
- Applying as early as April could increase your chances of receiving a scholarship if you are a strong candidate.

Graduate International Scholarships (Master with Thesis/Research Masters)
All accepted master’s students with a thesis get 100% merit-based scholarships from the relevant graduate school (with the exception of the Graduate School of Health Sciences). Depending on the graduate school, merit-based scholarships may come with extra privileges like health insurance and living expenses. Please note that the LLM with Thesis program is not included in this category.
- Complete the online application for the Master with Thesis program of your choice and send it in with the required supporting materials, such as your most recent TOEFL and GRE/GMAT scores. Scholarships do not have their own forms.
- On the dates specified on their separate websites under “Admission,” candidates get an email containing their scholarship results, test scores (GRE/GMAT, TOEFL), and the admission offer letter from the relevant Graduate School.
International Graduate Scholarships for Masters without Thesis and Taught Masters
Koç University offers tuition-paying professional master’s degrees (Master without Thesis) in fields such as Data Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, LLM, Public Policy, Global Health, MBA, EMBA, Finance, and others to both domestic and international students. There are no tuition scholarships available for these programs.

International Graduate Scholarships (Doctoral/Ph.D.)
Koç University Scholarships to all Ph.D. students who are admitted throughout the duration of their study. Our Ph.D. programs have very competitive admissions because of the large number of competent applicants. In order to be considered for admission and, subsequently, the scholarship, we recommend that you keep the following information in mind before submitting your application:
- Complete the online application for the Ph.D. program of your choice and send it in with the required supporting materials. Scholarships do not have their own forms.
- If you apply without having the required exam results (TOEFL, GRE/GMAT), your chances of being accepted and, thus, receiving financial help, are greatly diminished.
- All accepted Ph.D. students get 100% merit-based grants from the appropriate Graduate School (excluding the Graduate School of Health Sciences). Merit-based scholarships may also come with other benefits (housing, living expenses, health insurance), depending on the graduate school.
- On the dates indicated under “Admission” on each website, candidates get their admission offer letter from the relevant Graduate School via email along with their scholarship results.

Eligibility Criteria for Koç University Scholarships
- Applications are welcome from international students worldwide.
- Proof of English language ability is necessary because English is the language of instruction.
- For undergraduate programs, scholarships are available in most professions, with the exception of the medical school.
- Since the scholarship is merit-based, high-achieving students are urged to apply as they will be given precedence.
- Both domestic and international students are eligible to apply.
- Applicants will get an email from the relevant graduate school informing them of the status of their scholarship application.
