Eligibility for Geneva University Excellence Master Fellowships
Candidates must meet the following criteria in order to be considered for the Geneva University Excellence Master Fellowships
- possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
- possess a strong academic background and show promise for success in their field of study.
- be fluent in the language of teaching selected for the program, usually English or French.
- be a foreign student without any Swiss or EU citizenship.
- fulfill the requirements for admission to the Master’s program of your choosing.

Documents Required
The application must be submitted with the following papers, each in the form of a SINGLE PDF file (in either French or English):
- a copy of your government-issued ID or passport.
- a curriculum vitae, which should not exceed two pages.
- the transcript showing all of the grades earned on the tests taken for the bachelor’s degree.
- a motivation letter detailing your specific scientific interests and the reasons you wish to join in the University of Geneva’s Master of Science program.
- Any further pertinent material, such as the results of the GRE (General Requirements Exam), TOEFL, or other language tests, should be provided directly from the professors to Excellence-Master-Sciences@unige.ch, together with two letters of recommendation attesting to your suitability for this program, if at all possible.

Every year, online applications are accepted starting in early January. The next application date is February 28, 2026 (Master’s students can start on September 14, 2026).
