Apply for a Course
Decide which graduate research program you wish to apply to. There are a number of options:
- Doctor of Philosophy: You will spend up to four years conducting original research on a specific topic and writing an 80,000-word thesis. In the first year of certain of our PhD programs, there are taught courses.
- Doctorate by Research: This program provides high-level engagement with the significant literature in your field of study through coursework and research sessions.
- For the Master of Philosophy (MPhil), a globally recognized master’s program by research, a thesis of 30,000–40,000 words must be finished.
- The Masters by Research program differs from the MPhil in that it requires a thesis that is less than 30,000 words long and involves coursework.
Deadline
Students can apply for Graduate Research at any time of the year because it is an open application process. However, you must submit your course application by the deadlines if you wish to be eligible for faculty-based grants or graduate research funds. In that round, admission and scholarship consideration will only be given to completed applications that are submitted on time.
You have until October 31 of the academic year for which you received the scholarship offer to start your studies if you are granted one. If not, your scholarship can be taken away. Since the majority of scholarships are awarded in the first two rounds, it is important to submit your application by the appropriate dates to increase your chances of receiving money.
