The successful candidate will be conducting a specialized research project (No. 22-531) to isolate and characterize multi-drug resistant (MDR) / Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (ESBL) producing Escherichia coli (E. coli) in mastitic cattle and buffalo. The present study is focused on developing antibiotic panels to minimize economic losses to Livestock farmers in Punjab.
You will be placed at the provincial Diagnostic Laboratory, Livestock & Dairy Development (L&DD) Punjab, Lahore.
Available Position Details
1. Research Associate (01 Position)
This is a contract-based position initially for one year with the possibility of an extension for up to two years, based on performance and project requirements.
Required Qualifications
To be eligible for this position, the candidate must meet the following criteria:
✔ Educational Requirement:
- M.Phil / M.Sc (Hons) in Veterinary Microbiology from an HEC (Higher Education Commission)-recognized university/institution.
✔ Academic Performance:
- The candidate should have no third division in their entire academic career.

Key Responsibilities and Preferred Skills
The selected Research Associate will be responsible for conducting research and laboratory work related to bacterial infections in cattle and buffalo.
✔ Bacterial Isolation & Culturing:
- The candidate should have experience in handling bacterial cultures and identifying bacterial strains.
✔ Molecular Characterization of Isolated Bacteria:
- The candidate should be skilled in using molecular techniques such as PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), DNA sequencing, and electrophoresis for bacterial characterization.
